Ryan Hood, a talented musician from Irmo, SC, known for his skills on guitar and piano, passed away at the age of twenty. His legacy is honored through the Ryan Hood Memorial Scholarship Fund. His parents, Charles and Anita Hood, with deep ties to Pickens, SC, where Charles graduated from Pickens High School in 1979, established this fund to support young musicians in the YAM (Young Appalachian Musicians) program. The fund aims to continue Ryan’s spirit of generosity by providing scholarships, ensuring his passion for music and kindness inspires future generations.

We’re thrilled to report record enrollment in our programs, but this comes with a challenge-we urgently need more instruments! We’re looking for donations of gently used banjos, mandolins, fiddles, or guitars to keep our music education thriving.
Donate an instrument in playable condition, and enjoy free entry to the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee.
Instruments needed:
Banjos: $250 each
Fiddles: $150 each
Guitars: $150 each
Online: Make a secure donation of any amount via the form below; no account needed. Email Pauline Blackston or call Betty McDaniel at 864-230-9695.

Organizational Sponsor $5,000 (corporate or individual)
This level provides support to our entire organization from funding the instructors, program directors, instrument purchase and care, and most importantly the ongoing activities that keep ‘arts in education.’ This level is available for 6 installments of $1,000 monthly.
In appreciation, we would like to extend our gratitude as well as
• An onsite performance of the Sweet Potato Pie Kids at your next event.
• A banner, created by your organization/company, displayed inside of the auditorium during the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee.
• Your name or organization/company name (logo) listed on advertising media and the event program of the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee, as well as the YAM website and WBJ facebook page.
• A table in the vendor area providing participants the opportunity to interact with you and learn more about your organization/company.
• Recognition of your dedication to the arts at an on-stage awards program at the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee.
• Tickets to the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee.
• Passes into the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee green room.
School Sponsor $3,000 (corporate or individual)
This level provides significant support to a school based program by assisting with instructor funding, financial support for after-school care, and maintenance of instruments. This level is available for 6 installments of $500 monthly.
• Recognition of your dedication to the arts at an on-stage awards program at the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee.
• A table in the vendor area providing participants the opportunity to interact with you and learn more about your organization/company.
• 15 tickets to the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee.
• 4 passes into the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee green room.
Class Sponsor $1,200 (corporate or individual)
This level provides sponsorship for a class (3-5 students) to participate in a school-based or evening music program providing in-depth music lessons and experiences in the traditions of our Southern Appalachian heritage. This level is available for 6 installments of $200 monthly.
In appreciation, we would like to extend our gratitude as well as
• A banner, created by your organization/company, displayed inside of the auditorium during the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee.
• 10 tickets to the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee.
• 2 passes into the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee green room.
Student Sponsor $500 (corporate or individual)
This support provides lessons for a student for one year. While the YAM program provides grant support and a graduated payment program based on a student’s lunch status, this sponsorship level represents the true cost of a student’s commitment to learning to play an instrument for a year.
In appreciation, we would like to extend our gratitude as well as
• Your name or organization/company name (logo) listed on advertising media and the event program of the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee, as well as the YAM website and WBJ facebook page.
• A table in the vendor area providing participants the opportunity to interact with you and learn more about your organization/company.
• A plaque for your company to display
• 5 tickets to the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee.
After School Sponsor $250 (for individuals)
This support provides the funds needed to have a quality homework center for a student as he or she waits on a lesson to begin each week. This support is integral the success of the YAM program because it allows students to remain at school while their parent continues to work but knowing all homework will be complete.
In appreciation, we would like to extend our gratitude as well as
• Your name listed on advertising media and the event program of the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee, as well as the YAM website and WBJ facebook page.
• A certificate of appreciation.
• 3 tickets to the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee.
Instrument Sponsor $100 (for individuals)
This support provides an instrument for a student for one year. Instrument purchase and care is a significant investment for a family, and it is this cost alone that can often prohibit a student from taking music lessons.
In appreciation, we would like to extend our gratitude as well as
• Your name listed on advertising media and the event program of the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee, as well as the YAM website and WBJ facebook page.
• 2 tickets to the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee
